Bank of Punjab profit after tax rises 22% as Punjab injects Rs. 15.6 billion equity
The Bank of Punjab's profit after tax rose 22% to Rs. 14.53 billion in the nine months to September 30, 2026, as gross advances grew 28% and the Government of Punjab injected Rs. 15.6 billion in equity.

The Bank of Punjab's profit after tax rose 22% to Rs. 14.53 billion in the nine months ended September 30, 2026, the bank said after its board approved the unaudited results, as a Rs. 15.6 billion equity injection from the Government of Punjab strengthened its capital base.

Operating profit before provisions and gains climbed 34% to Rs. 34.42 billion, the bank said. Net interest income rose 19% to Rs. 69.40 billion, while non-markup income excluding gains grew 47% to Rs. 18.04 billion. Profit before tax increased 15% to Rs. 30.46 billion, and the cost-to-income ratio excluding gains improved by 3.03 percentage points.

Gross advances grew 28% year-on-year to Rs. 1,073 billion, the bank said, while current deposits rose 16% and average current deposits 25%. Total assets stood at Rs. 2,456 billion and deposits at Rs. 1,928 billion. The capital adequacy ratio was 13.94% and the leverage ratio 4.07%, both above the State Bank of Pakistan's requirements, the bank said.

The bank said PACRA upgraded its long-term credit rating to AAA with a stable outlook, and that it had secured in-principle approval from the State Bank of Pakistan to set up an overseas wholesale banking unit in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It also won three Pakistan Banking Awards 2026, for agriculture inclusion, SME banking and women's inclusion.

The results leave BOP, in which the Government of Punjab is a major shareholder, with a stronger capital position as it expands lending and looks to cross-border business. The bank said it would keep investing in technology and digital innovation while pursuing profitable growth and financial inclusion.
