US crypto ETFs draw $3bn in a week as flows widen beyond bitcoin
Spot ETFs tracking bitcoin, ethereum, solana, XRP and zcash drew about $3.04bn of net inflows from Monday to Thursday, SoSoValue data show, with roughly $793m going to products beyond bitcoin.

US exchange-traded funds tracking cryptocurrencies attracted about $3.04bn in net inflows from Monday to Thursday this week, according to SoSoValue data, as demand spread beyond bitcoin into ethereum, solana, XRP and zcash products. Bitcoin remained the dominant destination at $2.25bn, while the other four assets drew nearly $793m, or about 26% of the five-asset total. The buying marks a reversal from earlier in the year, when US spot bitcoin ETFs had run a $5.69bn year-to-date deficit by 13 July.

Bitcoin funds opened the week with a $999m daily inflow, which the SoSoValue data identify as the strongest single-day figure of 2026 and the largest since the funds took in about $1.2bn on 6 October 2025. In coin terms the purchases represented roughly 11,530 BTC, the biggest single-day intake since November 2024. Inflows continued for a fourth consecutive session on Thursday, adding $190.65m and taking the four-day haul to $2.25bn. SoSoValue's 24 September snapshot put the 12 US spot bitcoin ETFs at $108.92bn in net assets, with cumulative net inflows of $57.43bn. Bitfinex said the ETF demand had re-emerged alongside corporate treasury buying, creating simultaneous sources of spot demand for the first time this year.

Ethereum has been the clearest beneficiary of the widening bid. US spot ethereum ETFs attracted $602.94m from Monday to Thursday, according to SoSoValue, accounting for more than three-quarters of all capital that moved into non-bitcoin products. The funds took in $269.98m on Monday, $162.31m on Tuesday, $104.63m on Wednesday and $66.01m on Thursday, giving ethereum four consecutive positive sessions alongside bitcoin. Bitfinex said Monday's total was ethereum ETFs' largest daily inflow since 7 October 2025. The demand arrived even as ether's price performance lagged several smaller cryptocurrencies during the broader market rebound. By 24 September, cumulative net inflows into the 11 ethereum ETFs tracked by SoSoValue had reached $13.85bn, with combined net assets of $17.70bn. Bitcoin and ethereum together absorbed about $2.85bn, or almost 94% of the five assets' combined inflows.

Flows into smaller crypto ETFs were modest by comparison but broadened the week's buying. Solana products attracted $101.55m from Monday to Thursday, including $32.81m on Thursday, lifting their cumulative total to $1.52bn against net assets of $1.81bn. XRP ETFs added $52.95m, resuming on Tuesday with $20.02m, followed by $18.04m on Wednesday and $14.89m on Thursday, taking cumulative inflows to $1.77bn against about $1.70bn in net assets. Zcash products drew a further $35.17m, with SoSoValue showing the single tracked fund at $306.12m in cumulative net inflows and about $1bn in net assets, a rapid build-up for a product that only began trading earlier this month. Combined, solana, XRP and zcash attracted about $189.7m.

The inflows have not produced another immediate leg higher in price. Bitcoin has struggled to extend its rally above $85,000 since Tuesday, after reaching as high as $87,392 on 21 September, according to Bitfinex. The firm identified a large concentration of recent buying between $85,000 and $86,500, with its estimate of the aggregate ETF investor break-even level near $86,000, leaving recent ETF buyers close to the centre of bitcoin's current trading range. Bitfinex also said all 35 non-bitcoin pairs it tracks advanced between 18 and 22 September, with a median gain of 12% against bitcoin's 6.6% rise, and that its altcoin-season indicator turned positive on 22 September for the first time since January.
