PSX adds 218,894 net new investors in 10 months, more than previous four years combined

The Pakistan Stock Exchange added 218,894 net new investors between January and October 2026 — more than the previous four full calendar years combined, according to the adviser to the finance minister, Khurram Schezad. The total investor base reached a record 681,965, up 56% year on year.
October alone brought 25,747 net new investors, an all-time high for a single month and a 66% rise on the same month last year, Schezad said in a post on X. Since June 2022, the base has grown by 406,995 net investors, a 148% expansion from 274,970 at the time.
Around 85% of the new entrants are Gen Z and millennials, Schezad said, highlighting the growing participation of Pakistan's younger generation in capital markets. He read the sustained rise as a signal of confidence in economic stabilisation, improving macroeconomic fundamentals and the direction of policy.
The adviser linked the trend to the government's agenda of democratising savings and expanding retail access to investment, arguing it strengthens financial inclusion and channels household savings into productive, long-term investment. The figures are the government's own account of exchange data; Token Times could not independently verify them.
