Utexo opens early access to platform for USDT on Bitcoin ahead of 28 November launch
Utexo has opened early access to Utexo Mint, a platform for professional operators preparing to support USDT on the Bitcoin network, ahead of a public launch scheduled for 28 November. The company said onboarding is open to exchanges, wallets, market makers, over-the-counter desks and trading firms, according to a press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine.
Utexo Mint is a dedicated environment in which verified operators can mint and redeem USDT on Bitcoin, and test minting, confidential transfers and redemption through the RGB protocol in a sandbox. Utexo said the testing period is intended to give operators time to validate transaction flows and complete integrations before launch, and that it will also offer tools to manage USDT liquidity across supported networks and to convert between fiat and USDT.
Utexo said USDT on Bitcoin is not owned or operated by Tether, though the token is backed by USDT through Tether's USDT0 protocol. USDT first launched on Bitcoin in 2014. Utexo said early integration would let operators "capture initial demand and build market share as adoption grows", and that existing partners are already preparing for the launch.
The company described the Bitcoin implementation as "private by design", allowing holders to transfer funds without publicly exposing transaction details, and said RGB's version avoids address reuse, a practice it said can expose holders to quantum computing risks. On compliance, Utexo told Bitcoin Magazine that it monitors all incoming USDT, checks AML scores and monitors risk on the RGB side, and that it has a partnership with Crystal Intelligence for anti-money laundering checks.
The rollout is planned in two phases. USDT is due to become publicly available on Bitcoin via RGB on 28 November through partner wallets and exchanges, with Utexo pointing to new liquidity for swap providers and lending platforms. A second phase, planned for the first quarter of 2027, would extend USDT to the Lightning Network for payments.
