BankIslami appoints Imran Haleem Shaikh as president and CEO
BankIslami Pakistan Limited has named deputy chief executive Imran Haleem Shaikh as president and CEO for a three-year term from 29 September 2026, the bank told the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

BankIslami Pakistan Limited has appointed its deputy chief executive, Imran Haleem Shaikh, as president and chief executive officer for a three-year term with effect from 29 September 2026, the bank said in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Shaikh joined BankIslami as deputy chief executive officer in January 2024, after more than 13 years at JS Bank, where he served as chief operating officer from July 2020 to December 2023. At JS Bank he was responsible for retail banking, consumer, product, marketing and administrative functions, and was involved in the launch and expansion of Zindigi, the bank's digital banking platform. Before becoming chief operating officer he served as chief of staff and held several senior roles in marketing and brand management, having begun his career at JS Group in corporate affairs from 2006 to 2010. The profile lists a BBA in marketing from the Institute of Business Management and a master's degree with a specialisation in AI from HEC Paris.

The appointment follows a board decision last month that the incumbent president and chief executive, Rizwan Ata, would continue in the role until the completion of his current three-year term on 28 September 2026. "The Board recognised and appreciated the efforts of Rizwan Ata," BankIslami said at the time.

BankIslami was incorporated in Pakistan as a public limited company in 2004, founded by Jahangir Siddiqui & Company Limited and the Randaree family, with Dubai Bank later joining as a founding shareholder in 2005. It was granted a licence as a scheduled Islamic commercial bank in 2005 under the SBP's Islamic banking policy of 2003, and began operations on 7 April 2006.
