UPI now books Burj Khalifa and Sentosa tickets as India's payments reach 10 countries

Indian tourists planning a holiday can now pay for tickets to the top of the Burj Khalifa and to Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa with the same UPI app they use at home, India's Ministry of Finance said on Friday.
The Dubai link runs through NPCI International Payments Limited, the overseas arm of the National Payments Corporation of India, alongside UAE payment provider NEOPAY and Emaar Entertainment. At the Top, Burj Khalifa is the first UAE attraction to accept UPI for online bookings, a facility the ministry said responds to demand for trusted cross-border payment options and strengthens digital and economic ties between the two countries.
In Singapore, the same push has reached Resorts World Sentosa through a partnership with payment institution FOMO Pay, covering bookings at Universal Studios Singapore, the Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark. The ministry said Singapore welcomed 1.2 million Indian visitors in 2025.
UPI is now accepted in 10 countries: Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Greece. Uzbekistan is expected to become the 11th under a commercial agreement announced on August 30, 2026, during the Indian prime minister's visit. India first introduced UPI-based ticket booking for the Eiffel Tower in France on January 26, 2024.
The ministry said it would keep pursuing international partnerships to expand digital payments and simplify cross-border transactions for Indian travellers.
