Sindh High Court suspends NEPRA rulings in K-Electric tariff case
K-Electric says the Sindh High Court has suspended NEPRA Appellate Tribunal judgments and related tariff notifications on an ad-interim basis, giving the listed utility interim relief in its tariff appeals.

K-Electric has obtained ad-interim relief from the Sindh High Court in its tariff dispute with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, with the court suspending the appellate tribunal's judgments and the notifications that followed from them, according to a company notice filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

In the filing, the listed power utility said it had exercised its legal right to challenge the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal's judgments of 23 September 2026 on its tariff appeals, together with NEPRA's review determinations of 20 October 2025 and subsequent notifications issued by NEPRA on 23 September 2026 and by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) on 27 September 2026, before the High Court of Sindh in Karachi. It said the court passed ad-interim orders on 7 October 2026 suspending the impugned notifications and orders. The notice did not indicate when the matter will next be heard.

The challenge follows the dismissal last month of K-Electric's appeals against NEPRA's orders. The company said at the time that it had been informed by a verbally announced order that its appeals, filed against NEPRA's decisions of 20 October 2025, had been dismissed.

According to K-Electric, that outcome had a substantial adverse impact on its Multi-Year Tariff for the control period FY 2024 to FY 2030, which it said is therefore not considered financially sustainable for the company. The utility had disclosed the position to the exchange on 24 September 2026, before turning to the high court.
