Gold rises Rs2,400 a tola to Rs412,136, association says
The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association put 24-karat gold at Rs412,136 a tola after a Rs2,400 rise, with silver also climbing at home and abroad.

Gold in Pakistan's local market climbed Rs2,400 a tola on Monday, taking 24-karat gold to Rs412,136, the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association reported.

The move was broad across the metal. Ten grams of 24-karat gold rose Rs2,058 to Rs353,340, while the same weight of 22-karat gold gained Rs1,886 to Rs323,906, the association said.

Behind the local rise was the international price, which the association put $24 higher at $3,896 an ounce.

Silver moved with gold. A tola of silver added Rs100 to reach Rs5,488, and 10 grams rose Rs86 to Rs4,705, the association said. Internationally, silver was up $1 at $50.10 an ounce.

For Pakistani buyers, the increase lands on a metal that already carries a premium at the counter, with wedding-season purchases and savings in jewellery both sensitive to a Rs2,400 move in a single session.
