Blackstone and Wall Street banks assemble $63bn financing package for Anthropic's AI build-out

Bank of America, Blackstone, Citi and Morgan Stanley said on Monday they had put together a $63bn financing package to expand Anthropic's artificial intelligence computing capacity using Broadcom technology, according to Token Times.
The money buys AI accelerators and networking equipment from Broadcom that will be leased to Anthropic, with deliveries due to begin in 2027. The structure splits the risk: Bank of America, Citi and Morgan Stanley take the senior secured tranche, while Blackstone is sole holder of the second-lien portion.
"The need for AI compute continues to grow at an extraordinary pace. This validates the availability of capital to finance that growth and Broadcom's unique position in enabling it," Broadcom chief executive Hock Tan said.
The announcement landed the same day Anthropic filed a proposed initial public offering with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, according to Token Times. That pairing puts a private AI developer's listing ambitions and a bank-financed hardware programme in front of investors at the same time.
For lenders and asset managers, the deal is a template for how AI infrastructure gets paid for: not by the model developer's balance sheet alone, but by syndicated credit secured against equipment leased back to the customer. How that structure prices and performs will shape the next round of AI financing.
