Where does Pakistan rank in global crypto adoption?

Pakistan ranked third in the world in Chainalysis's 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index, behind only India and the United States, and up six places from the year before. The index covered 151 countries.

Chainalysis, a company that analyzes blockchain data for governments and businesses, does not simply count crypto users. It combines several measures of how much value people receive through crypto services, from large trading platforms to small peer-to-peer transfers, and weights them by population and purchasing power. That is why countries where crypto is used for everyday saving and remittances can rank above much richer ones.

The rise matches what the government has said: millions of Pakistanis hold or trade crypto, mostly through foreign platforms. That was part of the reason for creating PVARA in 2025, to bring the activity under licensing and supervision.

A high ranking is a measure of use, not of safety. Much of that activity happens on platforms outside Pakistan's oversight, so the advice in our scams lesson still applies.
