SBP foreign exchange reserves rise $15mn to $21.45bn
The State Bank of Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves rose by $15 million week-on-week to $21.45 billion in the week ended 2 October 2026, the central bank said on Thursday.
According to the SBP's weekly data, the country's total liquid foreign reserves stood at $26.80 billion during the week. Reserves held by the central bank reached $21.454 billion, while net foreign reserves held by commercial banks were $5.344 billion. "During the week ended on 2-Oct-2026, SBP’s FX reserves increased by US$15 million to US$21,453.7 million," the central bank said.
The latest reading follows a $39 million increase in the week ended 25 September 2026, when SBP-held reserves reached $21.439 billion. The gain in the week to 2 October is therefore smaller than the rise recorded a week earlier.
SBP-held reserves are closely watched by investors and analysts as a gauge of Pakistan's external account position. The central bank releases the figures on a weekly basis, alongside the combined liquid reserves held by the central bank and commercial banks.
