Petrol price rises to Rs392.76 a litre in Pakistan from October 3
Pakistan's Petroleum Division raised petrol by Rs2.10 a litre to Rs392.76 and high-speed diesel by 30 paisas to Rs399.64, effective until October 5, citing international oil markets.

Pakistan's petrol price will rise by Rs2.10 a litre to Rs392.76 from October 3, with high-speed diesel up 30 paisas at Rs399.64, according to a Petroleum Division announcement. The revised prices are to remain in force until October 5.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices under the government's petroleum pricing mechanism. The Petroleum Division attributed the adjustment to movements in international oil markets, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and other related costs.

The revision follows the previous one, which took effect only on October 2. Under that adjustment, petrol rose by Rs3.26 a litre to Rs390.66, while high-speed diesel was reduced by Rs1.01 a litre to Rs399.34. The back-to-back revisions are likely to draw attention from motorists.

Petrol fell from Rs392.05 a litre on September 23 to Rs387.40 on October 1, before climbing again the following day. The October 2 rate remained Rs1.39 a litre below the September 23 level.

The government says the rates have been calculated under the prevailing petroleum pricing mechanism, taking into account international market conditions and associated costs. With the latest notification, diesel stands just below Rs400 a litre.
