Govt raises petrol price by Rs2.10, diesel by Re0.30 per litre

The federal government has raised the price of petrol by Rs2.10 per litre to Rs392.76 and high-speed diesel by Re0.30 to Rs399.64 per litre for October 3 to 5, 2026. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices on Friday under the government's petroleum pricing mechanism, according to an announcement by the Petroleum Division.
For consumers, the change extends a run of upward revisions on petrol. Petrol is up from Rs390.66 and high-speed diesel from Rs399.34. Diesel is the main fuel for freight and agricultural machinery, so its price feeds through into transport and food costs.
The Petroleum Division said the revision was necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals, and that the revised prices were linked to international market rates of petrol and diesel. On Thursday, the government raised petrol by Rs3.26 to Rs390.66 and reduced high-speed diesel by Rs1.01 to Rs399.34 per litre.
The adjustment on Friday coincided with a sharp fall in international benchmarks. Brent was down $3.06, or 3%, at $99.25 a barrel at 1409 GMT, while West Texas Intermediate dropped $3.95, or 4.25%, to $88.92. Both contracts were poised for weekly declines, with Brent down about 4.7% for the week and WTI around 3.7% lower.
European gasoil futures, a benchmark for diesel prices, fell about 4.3% to $1,386.75 a metric ton after reports of talks in Europe on additional diesel and crude stock releases, easing concerns over tight global energy supplies.
