Pakistan freelancers' September earnings hit record $197 million
Freelance export earnings reached a record $197 million in September, up 49 per cent year on year, with $550 million booked in the first quarter of the fiscal year.

Pakistan's freelancers earned a record $197 million in foreign exchange in September, the highest monthly total on record, according to figures reported on the country's digital services exports. The September total was 49 per cent higher than the same month last year and 11 per cent above August.

The figures put first-quarter freelance earnings at $550 million for July to September, a 46 per cent increase on the same period a year earlier. The source did not specify which body compiled the data or how the earnings were measured.

For Pakistan, the numbers matter chiefly as a foreign exchange story. Freelancers brought in $1.76 billion during the 2025-26 fiscal year, and the latest quarter suggests digital services are contributing a growing share of the country's foreign currency inflows at a time when the current account remains sensitive to remittance and export trends.

The reported growth also points to the expanding role of online work in the domestic economy. The source did not break the earnings down by platform, skill category or the channel through which payments were received, leaving open how much of the total entered through formal banking channels.
