Pakistan remittances rise 12.7% year on year to $3.6bn in September
State Bank of Pakistan data show overseas workers' remittances reached $3.6bn in September 2026, up 12.7% year on year but 1.9% lower than August, with Jul-Sept FY27 inflows up 14.74% to $10.9bn.

Pakistan received $3.6 billion in overseas workers' remittances in September 2026, State Bank of Pakistan data showed on Friday, a 12.7% increase on the $3.2 billion recorded in the same month a year earlier.

On a month-on-month basis, the central bank's figures put inflows 1.9% lower than the $3.7 billion received in August 2026.

Cumulatively, workers' remittances rose 14.74% in Jul-Sept FY27 to $10.9 billion, against $9.5 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to the SBP data.

Remittances are a principal source of foreign exchange for Pakistan and feed directly into the external account as well as the disposable incomes of households that depend on money sent home by relatives working abroad. The September figures extend the year-on-year growth recorded in the opening months of the fiscal year, though the monthly comparison shows inflows easing slightly from August.

The State Bank of Pakistan publishes remittance data monthly; the September release did not alter figures previously reported for earlier months.
