Pakistan has cut petrol and high-speed diesel prices from September 30 after changes in international oil markets. Petrol will now cost Rs387.54 per litre after a reduction of Rs1.49, while high-speed diesel has fallen by Rs2.73 to Rs402.24 per litre.

The government continues to impose Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on high-speed diesel. The revised rates take effect from September 30.

The government shifted to daily fuel price revisions in July because of fluctuations in international oil prices. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority determines prices based on international market trends.

Fuel prices remain important for households and businesses across Pakistan. Petrol mainly serves private vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws, while diesel powers heavy transport, plants and generators. The latest reduction therefore affects both consumers and commercial activities.
