Pakistan's liquid forex reserves reach $26.754 billion as SBP holdings rise
The State Bank of Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves rose by $33 million to $21.522 billion in the week, taking the country's total liquid reserves to $26.754 billion as of October 23, 2026.

Pakistan's liquid foreign exchange reserves reached $26.754 billion as of October 23, 2026, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan on Thursday.

The central bank's foreign exchange reserves increased by $33 million during the week, reaching $21.522 billion, while net reserves held by commercial banks stood at $5.233 billion. In the previous week, SBP reserves had risen by $19 million to $21.489 billion, while commercial banks held $5.344 billion in net foreign exchange reserves.

Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves have fluctuated in recent months due to external financing inflows and debt repayments. Inflows from commercial loans, multilateral financial institutions and international bond issuances, including Eurobonds, have supported reserve accumulation.

Disbursements under the International Monetary Fund's Extended Fund Facility and Resilience and Sustainability Facility, along with proceeds from a Panda bond, have also helped strengthen the country's reserves. However, periodic external debt repayments continue to put pressure on the central bank's holdings.
